With Mat-Su Mayor Vern Halter, Deputy Mayor Matthew Beck on Tuesday read a proclamation for recovery. Alcohol and drug addiction are a public health threat that can be overcome in Alaska. Michael Carson accepted the proclamation.
Carson is Vice Chair of the Board for the nonprofit My House, the Chair of the Mat-Su Opioid Task Force, and a retired teacher.
Deputy Mayor Beck read the proclamation: "Whereas, we must provide support and compassion for relatives and friends with substance use disorders, recognize the signs of a problem and guide those in need to appropriate treatment and recovery support services, such as My House, a local non-profit with an Opioid Task Force dedicated to helping local youth with recovery..."
