The marijuana tax may collect up to $500,000 this year. Some 779 new homes were built in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough this year, an increase over last year. The senior citizen and disabled veteran property tax exemption program is growing at eight pecent a year.  The appeal period for property tax assessments runs through March 2.
