MAT-SU— On March 20, 2012, ‘Chosin Few’ organization member John Beasley testified before the MAT-SU Borough Assembly to request having a mountain named in recognition of the Marines who fought so courageously in one of history’s most brutal battles, ‘The Chosin Reservoir Campaign.’ In that battle, 3,000 Allied soldiers died fighting their way through Chinese forces who out numbered them 5 to 1 while enduring frostbite in the harsh -35º weather and mountainous terrain.
