The MAT-SU Borough has activated the Emergency Operation Center. This is in preparation for the oncoming inclement weather. Once again the winds are forecasted to be strong and the heavy rainfall is causing rising waters.
The MAT-SU Borough has activated the Emergency Operation Center. This is in preparation for the oncoming inclement weather. Once again the winds are forecasted to be strong and the heavy rainfall is causing rising waters. The National Weather Service has predicted that the major rivers will not exceed their banks, but the smaller rivers and creeks are projected to flood. Specifically the following, Yenta, Skwenta, Willow Creek, Little Willow Creek, Montana Creek, Moose Creek and the Kashwitna Rivers which are being closely monitored. The EOC will be manned 24 hours until the situation is downgraded.

With the second big storm upon us and it is only the middle of September it would seem prudent to have our emergency supplies ready. As the old saying goes "Better safe than sorry".
