MAT-SU— For 27 years in a row, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough's Finance Department has achieved an international award. The Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada awarded a certificate for excellence in financial reporting for the Borough's annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR). The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
"This finance award has become a routine for the Borough, but it is anything but routine," said Borough Manager John Moosey. "Great work has been consistently done by Borough staff. This award signifies our solid financial management principles, transparency and financial performance. This is not only a win for the Borough Finance staff but a win for all our Borough taxpayers," Moosey said.
Finance Director Tammy Clayton and Comptroller Elizabeth Hartley were recognized in the award as primarily responsible for preparing the financial report.
The FGOA is a nonprofit professional association serving some 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
